Jerome D. Berry Community Park And Municipal Water Storage And Pump Station

Redevelopment of the West Sacramento rail yards required new water infrastructure to be built before development could proceed. SERA Architects joined Carollo Engineers and Callander Associates Landscape Architects on the design of the community park and pump station. A 5 million gallon water tank divides the park into active and passive zones. The tank is lit at night with multicolored LED lighting. The Pump Station houses two pumps and a master valve. A butterfly roof hovers above the bright yellow concrete block walls with high corner windows providing a natural light for daytime operations. Plate steel cladding protects the base of the building. Three 'Viewing Portals' provide peak views into the pump station.
